Practical Health Tip #1 Ice vs. Heat
ICE decreases inflammation, which accumulates over the course of the day, or after activity in injured joints and soft tissues; thus, decreasing pain. By drawing blood-flow out of the area, ice and cold make us more susceptible to injury with activity. HEAT increases blood flow to the area, warming the muscles and preparing them to move without pain. The thermal effects of heat can actually increase inflammation if applied over an injury.
Moral of the Story:
ICE at night and after activity
HEAT in the morning and prior to activity
That is all, Stay healthy everyone
